Filipino Recruited Into Russia's Army Killed in Donetsk - One Week After Signing, One Month After Arriving

Ukraine's Defence Intelligence has identified a Filipino national killed while serving in the Russian Armed Forces: Jeric Jumadil Undol, born March 5, 1989, from the Manila metropolitan area.

Undol obtained a Russian visa on January 22, 2026, and arrived in the Moscow region on April 18, where he immediately began processing a military contract. He was placed at the "Avangard" centre - a military-patriotic youth training facility. On May 3, he signed a one-year contract with the Russian occupation army and was sent for training. Like other foreign recruits, he did not stay long - approximately one week.

By mid-May, Undol was already on the front line. At the end of the month, he was killed during a pointless assault near the settlement of Katerynivka in Donetsk Oblast - located near the junction of Donetsk, Kharkiv, and Luhansk regions.

The timeline tells the story: visa in January, arrival in April, contract signed May 3, front line by mid-May, dead by the end of May. Approximately 27 days from signing to death.

Undol had consciously ignored warnings from the Philippine government and local legislation, lured by the prospect of "easy money." He paid for that decision with his life.

According to the "I Want to Live" project, at least 2 Filipino nationals have been killed in Russia's war against Ukraine, with one more currently held as a prisoner of war.

Foreign nationals serving in the Russian Armed Forces can voluntary surrender to Ukrainian forces and save their lives. This can be done through the "I Want to Live" project - read more details here.
