At Least 5,149 Foreign Recruits Killed Fighting for Russia in Ukraine War, Ukrainian Officials Report

At least 5,149 foreign citizens recruited into the russian army have already died in "meat assaults," according to Brigadier General Dmytro Usov, Secretary of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.

Usov participated in a discussion titled "Foreign Combatants in the russian Army: How to Stop the Global Recruitment Scheme," organized by international human rights organization Truth Hounds. A comprehensive investigation into russian armed forces recruitment of foreigners is available through the organization's research.

According to Usov, more than 13,000 citizens from Central Asian countries are fighting in the Russian army, over 1,800 from South Asia, nearly 3,000 from Africa, more than 1,500 from Latin America, and approximately 14,000 soldiers from North Korea.

Due to recruitment problems among russian citizens for contract service, russia plans to recruit 18,500 foreigners this year. For the Kremlin, foreigners represent cheap expendable resources whose deaths don't impact public sentiment within russian society.

"Based on personal data available to us, losses among foreign mercenaries in the russian army already amount to at least 5,149 people," Usov stated.

Several hundred have managed to survive and become russian prisoners of war. Currently, Ukraine holds citizens of 48 countries as prisoners of war. The largest groups are citizens of Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Belarus.

The "I Want to Live" project continues offering surrender assistance to those fighting for russia who wish to save their lives.
