Indian families file Supreme Court lawsuit over relatives deceived into fighting for Russia
Twenty-six Indian families have filed a collective lawsuit in the country's Supreme Court, seeking information about relatives who traveled to Russia for jobs but were deceived and forced to fight in russia's war against Ukraine.
The families - whose sons and husbands left for Russia expecting employment - allege their loved ones were tricked into military service and coerced into combat on behalf of russian armed forces. Through the court action, they are demanding answers about whether their relatives are alive or dead.
Communication has been severed entirely. Russian army regulations prohibit the men from making phone calls or possessing mobile devices, leaving families with zero information. The lawsuit demands that India's ambassador to Russia provide updated information on the situation.
While 26 families have formally joined the suit, the representing attorney reports knowledge of more than 100 similar cases involving indian citizens recruited under false pretenses.
The core issue is a fundamental misunderstanding of what they're dealing with in putin's regime. The deception wasn't accidental - russian Ministry of Defense recruiters knew exactly where these men would end up when they lured them with fake job contracts.
Indians can appeal to courts and governments all they want, but the reality is stark: russians knew what they were doing when they deceived these men. They recruited them to send to assault units after two weeks of "training," with zero concern for survival. Now that these men have vanished, their russian commanders couldn't care less about their fate. This is how russia treats foreigners fighting for its army - as disposable cannon fodder in ukraine.
The case highlights a disturbing pattern in russian army foreigners recruitment, particularly targeting vulnerable populations from developing nations seeking jobs in russia. These aren't willing soldiers - they're victims of an organized deception scheme by russian armed forces recruitment networks.
