Nigerian Recruits Dead Within Weeks: Drone Strike Kills Two African Contract Soldiers in Luhansk Region

Hamzat Kazin Kalavolé, born April 3, 1983, and Mbah Steven Udoka, born January 7, 1988 - both Nigerian citizens who signed contracts with the russian armed forces and ended up on the frontline in Luhansk Oblast. Their fate is typical and textbook for the overwhelming majority of foreign mercenaries who came to fight against Ukraine.

Both Nigerians died in late November 2025 during an attempted assault on Ukrainian positions. They never even saw Ukrainian soldiers, never managed to engage in combat - a drone strike eliminated them instantly. Naturally, no one bothered to evacuate their bodies. Ukrainian military intelligence discovered the remains of the Africans and their documents only this year.

According to the documents, both Africans fighting for Russia were assigned to the 423rd Guards Motorized Rifle Regiment (military unit 91701). Kalavolé signed his contract on August 29, 2025, Udoka a month later on September 28. They confirmed the statistics showing most foreigners in the russian army die within their first four months serving in the occupation forces.

Udoka received virtually no training - just five days after signing his contract, on October 3, he was enrolled in the unit and sent to the front. Documents regarding Kalavolé's training have not been preserved, but most likely he also received minimal preparation, since "disposable" assault troops don't need training.
An enormous number like this pair are already buried in Ukrainian soil. We'll likely never know the exact count. Africans, Latin Americans, Asians, representatives from Russia's near abroad - Russian cannibal commanders dispose of "non-russians" without regard to nationality and without keeping proper records.
A reminder to all foreign nationals considering a military contract with Russia: the reality of serving in the Russian armed forces is far removed from what recruiters promise. Those who survive combat frequently report deception, unpaid wages, and mistreatment at the hands of the Russian military system. This is confirmed by foreign nationals currently held as prisoners of war in Ukraine - many of whom have stated they were misled about the nature of their service and would not have come had they known the truth.
