"They're Just Expendable" - Russian Propagandist Admits What Foreign Recruits Are Really For

"They're Just Expendable" - Russian Propagandist Admits What Foreign Recruits Are Really For

A Russian Z-propagandist has published what amounts to an unusually honest summary of how Russia views its foreign recruits: they exist to die in place of Russian soldiers. The post accompanied a photo of an African recruit already in Russian military uniform - a man who had signed a contract with the Russian Armed Forces - whom the author referred to in explicitly racist terms, making clear that his life held no value:

This is not an outlier opinion. It is the operational logic of Russia's foreign recruitment program stated plainly, without the diplomatic packaging of "brotherly peoples" or "multinational Russia" that the Kremlin deploys for external audiences. Strip that away and what remains is a cynical calculation: foreign nationals absorb casualties so Russian ones don't have to.

The trajectory for this recruit, as the propagandist himself implies, is already written. Within months he will be listed as missing in action. His unit will update his status to KIA and move on. His family will hear nothing. Recruiters will send replacements. The cycle continues.

The "I Want to Live" project reminds all foreign nationals serving in the Russian Armed Forces that there is another option. Surrender is possible, it is safe, and it has been chosen by several hundred foreign nationals from 48 countries now held as prisoners of war in Ukraine. Every one of them was supposed to die in place of a Russian soldier. They made a different decision.
